'moon gazing' by the auroran sunset

return to my poetry's home.

moon gazing

moon through my window,
wafting its light down to my eye.
silence extends to the stars -
a greater rift than between you and i.
breath soft as the leaves..
thoughts drift out, far across the land.
from shadows in my mind,
i see you there: reaching out your hand.
warm is the glow, gentle is the touch,
our hearts, our minds, as one we embrace.
did but ninety butterflies
grow and die since you turned your face?
i can but wonder at this thrall;
a heart so new yet seeming rich, long.
we meet across so many miles,
your smile. is this but a dream? could i be wrong?
