here i tell you about my favourite films as well as do reviews of films i've recently seen. i might add features on actor(esse)s i like.

Comedy
Grosse Pointe Blank

this one's a romantic comedy about a professional assassin having a midlife crisis... martin blank disappears on prom night; he returns ten years later for the high school reunion, and to do one last job.

Mars Attacks
a ridiculous comedy starring bug-eyed martians with ray guns... a huge cast of stars, a hilarious script and almost as colourfully pretty as Dick Tracy.

Bulworth
political romp... a small time senator running for re-election starts to wonder what the point is... having not slept or eating in days... having hired a hitman to kill him... he turns up for a campaign speech and tells 'the truth'... a film with a funky atmosphere, summed up by the meaningless line:- "be a spirit, don't be a ghost".

La Dulce Vita
based around the second world war, this film tells the story of a family under the cloud of racism coping through humour and intelligence.... a brilliant performance particularly by the lead (name forgotten).

Music
Breaking Glass
a very strange and sometimes disturbing film, but some brilliant (punky) music by hazel o'connor, who stars as a singer who gets screwed by the record industry.

The Blues Brothers
a fun and funny film revolving around a blues band... one of the best car chases on film, as well as soundtrack that rocks.

The Commitments
soul music from dublin... the film isn't great, but does have its moments; however definitely worth it for the music.

Stop Making Sense
the talking heads... this film is basically a private concert just for the 'video', with a hired audience... the music is excellent and the stage performance a wonder to watch.

Martial Arts
The Karate Kid 1-4
the fights aren't brilliant, nor is the script, but the films are great fun as well as being cult classics...  mr.miyagi is the mainstay of the films teaching two teenagers karate using quirky comments and methods.

The Buddhist Fist
kung fu at its best... stylised to the extreme, fast and beautiful to watch, as well as being quite funny at times.

Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story
bruce lee's life according to his wife... sometimes sad, sometimes funny, always interesting.

craft posterWeird
The Craft
about four teenage outcasts who turn to witchcraft... this film oozes coolness even if it has far too many snakes for my liking.

The Crow
brandon lee in a film with some of the best cinematography i've ever seen.

Others
Leon
this film is very nicely done... the general idea is a reclusive assassin trains a precocious 12 year old girl, with complications.
